Research Areas

a caribou game trail

I'm interested in understanding how disease and predation risk impacts animal movement patterns and its effects on animal fitness and the surrounding environment. Specifically I aim to consider multiple types of risk and their non-consumptive effects holistically.

Animals play a crucial role in moving nutrients around the environment, or zoogeochemistry. I'm working on several interdisciplinary projects to explore the various factors influencing animal movement in natural systems and their impact on nutrient cycling.

I'm investigating how habitat selection decisions and disease avoidance behaviour impact individual fitness. Together I'm asking questions about selection on movement from the fitness consequences of infection with parasites.
